bareMinerals Paraben Free Tinted Mineral Veil Review | Paraben Free Beauty

Currently my go-to finishing powder, the bareMinerals mineral veil is one of my favourite new makeup finds. As mentioned in a previous Paraben & Lead Free Beauty Wish List post, it was one of the beauty product I had wanted to try, and now I have! In this post, I share a review of it and how it has worked.

The Packaging
You get 9g of powder in the container. I love the simplicity of the classic packaging, just what is needed. The powder sits in a plastic casing within an acrylic containter with a simple black lid which has the brand and product names on it. The plastic casing which holds the powder has a small outlet to allow the powder out. There is a lock mechanism also to control the powder, however when purchased as new, this area is sealed to stop the powder from pouring out. Underneath the container are the shade, ingredients list and other details.

Ingredients
The Mineral Veil comes in three shades and these are, original, illuminating, tinted and hydrating. The shade which I tried was tinted and the first thing I love about these powders in general is the fact that they are paraben free! As I have been trying to use more paraben free and natural products, this immediatly stood out to me. The next thing which I love about tinted in particular is the fact that the ingredients are so few with no inclusion of mica or titanium dioxide. These are two further ingredients which are difficult to escape especially in beauty products for the face. Though illuminating and hydrating are also paraben free, they do contain titanium dioxide and mica. Below is the ingredients list for tinted and original.

Tinted & Original Ingredients
Zea Mays (Corn Starch), Corn Starch Modified, Zinc Stearate, Magnesium Stearate. May Contain: Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499)

Review
I absolute love how light and ever so fine this powder is. Though light, the powder still manages to be quite well rich in that a little goes a long way. I love to use this powder to touch up my makeup during the day and this means that I do not really need to carry my compact power with me. Though I do try to use a blotting paper instead of a powder to control oiliness around midday, should I ever run out of these or forget it at home, the tinted mineral veil works well to mattify my face again! Apart from this, the best time I like to use this powder, is when I need to run a quick errand or when I just need to look slightly put together for any reason. Yes, this powder works so well in those times without foundation! Since I first tried it, I haven't quite left it!

One thing that I was finding tricky to do was controlling the amount of powder coming out when using it. I seemed to be getting more powder out than I needed alot of the time because I had not noticed the lock mechanism. I have now, and so that is ok. If you are conscious about the ingredients in the makeup products you use, this might be a good product to try. It is quite honestly the best loose/finishing powder I have used till date.

Have you tried any of the shades yourself? What do you think of them?

  1. This Mineral Veil is quite good, but I prefer MAC much better than this one. Love your review!

    1. Thanks for commenting! I have never tried the mac one but the main reason I love this is the fact that it has few ingredients and is paraben free. I shall check out the mac one too!! Thanks Eliza!
