Arrived! The Blackpool North Pier and The Padlocks | A Day In Blackpool Part 2

Just because pictures do a great job at documenting stories and moments! Our day out in Blackpool, Part 2! This is the second part of a day of relaxation spent in Blackpool. As mentioned in part 1 in this previous post, Blackpool beach was a beach I had never been to. Aside Skegness and Southend beaches, which were the only beaches I had experienced in the UK, Blackpool beach was somewhere I definitely wanted to visit for the day. If you haven't already seen part 1, please click Here to take a peek!

In this post, we arrived!!! We were greeted by a beautiful view of the mini shops, restaurants, fish and chip shops and the entrance to the North Pier. As you can also see in a snippet on the right hand side, the vast sea behind was awaiting our attention. A quick side note, the trams in Blackpool are actually pretty snazzy and modern. We were looking forward to what was behind the entrance.

We first decided to follow that snippet of sea behind the shops as we noticed a large pavement from where we could admire a bit of sea before anything else. As we walked past the entrance, towards the pavement, we could see the length of the north pier with a very visible sign showing the direction of the family bar.

So we took a rest on the pavements and admiring we did! Sky and sea and distance. Since my husband and I hadn't been to a beach in a while, this was a very welcomed view indeed. I found it interesting that on this part of the site, the beach had been replaced with concrete steps which seem to do a good job at keeping the tide at bay

Already looking forward to more views, we decide to head back and actually begin our tour by exploring the north pier.

Not before stopping to capture the view of the beach and rides in a distance. It turned out that this concrete steps carried on for a bit of a distance.

On the pier now! We absolutely loved the sea views as we walked on the pier. It was just so beautiful to look at. Though I must say, that while walking on the wooden walk way from the beginning, I was a tad bit cautious as I could see the waters beneath the pier. Some parts of the walkway had a few gaps in the woodwork. Nothing to worry about am sure but I walked as though I was walking on a single plank sometimes! This was only at the beginning, it got better as we progressed on. Though the seats on the pier were secure, I kind of did not feel totally secure sitting on it. I did try though and I did not fall. So thats good! But Oh! The experience of space was great! Also on this part of the pier was a small play area for little ones.

First in view towards the end of the pier was a beautiful yet simple carousel. I have never been on one but next time I am on a beach or a theme park, I should make a note to jump on one. Have you been on a carousel yourself? Also on this part of the pier where eating areas and a family theatre which had a show on process.

Now at the end of the North Pier. We could see the other piers and rides in a distance. What we found at the end of the pier was a display of padlocks on the mesh barrier. Some say that these padlocks are love locks, other say they are memorials. I am not quite sure however, please let me know if you do in the comments below as it was my first time seeing something of that nature.

As we left the north pier, we could see more of the city in a distance, stay tuned for the next post where I share more picture as we continued our adventure and tour.
