So I gifted myself with two completey different colour ranges to try out, one being the Sleek i-Divine Oh So Special Palette and the other, the Sleek i-Divine Ultra mattes V1 Brights Palette reviewed in another post here. In this post, I share swatches for this palette, my thoughts on the palette and include links to where you can get it cheaper than I did should you wish to try it yourself! The Palette
The colours are mainly neutrals with some soft brights in pinks and lilac and a few dark colours. There are 5 colours which are shimmery and 7 colours which have a matte consistency. This palette comes with twelve colours : bow, organza, ribbon, basket, glitz, celebrate, pamper, gateau, the mail, boxed, wrapped up and noir. It also comes with a black double ended sponge tip applicator.

Swatches & Review
Below are the swatches of the palette along with their corresponding names. The shimmery shades are  organza, basket, glitz, celebrate and gateau. The rest of them are matte.

My favourites from this palette, if I was to choose one, would be gateau because I feel it suits me the best. However, I have two other favourites and these are celebrate first, then organza. These, together with gateau, are very pretty shimmery shades. For highlighting, my favourite one to use is bow. It just works perfectly well and can be subtle or intense when played around with.

My least favourite would be ribbon, pamper and the mail. However, had these been shimmer shades I would have loved them. You can see in the finger tip swatches below that these three show up the least on my finger tips. On my hand, they appear quite powdery. The main reason why I am not particularly attracted to these three is that, I feel it takes quite a little bit more of an amount to create a good look with them, however I am willing to play around more with these three and they do work very well for highlighting.

All in all, I feel the palette makes a good drug store alternative, though it does have parabens in the ingredients as a note to anyone who is paraben conscious.

Debbie Siebers 6 Day Express Plan (Slim In 6) | Review and Food Diary

Between the 3rd of August and the 8th of August this year, I set out to try and complete Debbie Siebers 6 Day Express Plan (part of the Slim in 6 program). I bought the Slim in 6 DVD set about three years ago. I absolutely enjoyed working out with this DVD then, and I absolutely lost weight when I first tried it. You can check my You Tube Channel Series HERE. In this post, I share my food choices for the 6 Day fast track plan, which is meant to be done for only 6 days in order to prepare your body and mind for starting the actual 6 week journey. I hope you find some of the meals helpful.

I guess the story goes like this, 'somehow, I gained the weight back since loosing it two years ago'. This is because I started making the wrong food choices again! So now that I have gained, I have been trying to loose it through a Lifestyle change . I decided to go on this 6 day plan in order to try to let myself know that I can always make a better choice of meals and love it.

Here are my meal choices which I made during the 6 day journey. Coupled with eating healthy meals, I  exercised in the form of walking or aerobics for 30 minutes each day.

On day 2, I ended up having a late snack of two eggs after dinner since I slept late. I made a mental note to count this into the next day's meals.

Well I did try to count it in on day 3, but as you can see, it did not quite go to plan and I ended up actually have another late snack, this time with two plums! I guess plums are healthy so not much deviation.

By day 5, I had run out of all my grocery. I therefore had to pop back into Tesco for some more. By this time, I had already eaten healthily from morning through to the afternoon. I made up my mind to have some butternut squash soup and some whole grain seeded, hearty bread.

I carried the remaining bread on to day 6, and I had it with tea for breakfast. However, I surprised myself by craving a salad for lunch. This is what I had been trying to achieve, being able to crave and have a simple salad, and thoroughly enjoying it. And I did! Olives, feta and baby plums! I decided to have the same dinner as Hubby, Ghanaian beans stew. I was well pleased with the outcome of my 6 day journey.

All in all, I believe this journey was well worth it and I would not hesitate to try it again. The plan definitely works and it does in a way allow for the chance to eat clean to an extend. I love Slim in 6 as I have had success with it in the past. I feel I am at a better place, and I am definitely looking forward to making even more healthier choices now, as well as starting the DVD journey again. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, as long as you stick to it, you will definitely see results.

Have you tried the Slim in 6 journey yourself? How did you find it?

MAKE A HEALTHY HUMMUS FROM SCRATCH | TWO FLAVOURS

A wholesome accompaniment to crunchy snacks like carrots, hummus is a healthy 'protein, minerals and good oils filled dish. Though mostly bought off the supermarket shelf, today I share how to make your own completely from scratch, super easy and with good ingredients. You know what is going into your hummus, therefore no need to worry about additives. Below, I also share a video recipe as well as a step by step recipe with pictures. Here's how I make my hummus, two flavours, completely from scratch!

Plain and Hot & Spicy Hummus with Carrots and Pepper sticks | Healthy Snack
Hummus contains a lot of protein, minerals and good oils. Most of the protein comes from the chickpeas and the sesame seeds and a lot of the oils and minerals come from the sesame seeds. Transitionally, sesame seed paste (tahini) is used in making hummus, however, in this recipe, I share how to incorperate the sesame seeds as a whole in order to make your hummus more fresh and homemade.

Ingredients
  • 50g of Fresh Sesame Seeds
  • A Tin of Chickpeas
  • 1 1/2 to 2 tbsp of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1/3 of a Teaspoon of Salt
  • 3/4 of Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
  • Two Cloves of Garlic

Hot & Spicy Hummus [Extras]
  • Black Pepper or Peppercorn
  • Red Pepper Powder e.g. Cayenne/Paprika

Tools
  • A Blender or Food Processor
  • A Measuring Cup
  • Saucepan
  • Spoon

 Lets Cook!
1. Turn your stove onto a medium heat to begin with and transfer the sesame seed into a saucepan on the stove.
2. Stir the seeds and shake up the saucepan in order to get the seeds to be level and allow to cook for about 3-5 minutes.
3. Turn the stove to a high heat and allow the seeds to toast on one side without burning, for about 3 minutes or until the seeds start browning.
4. Once the seeds begin to brown on one side, begin to constantly stir the seeds and shake up the saucepan in order to allow the most of the seeds to toast.
5. Once the seeds are toasted, take the pan off the heat and allow the toasted seeds to cool down.

6. Drain and wash your chickpeas. Chop your cloves of garlic, and slice your lemon into halves.

7. Transfer your chickpeas into your food processor or blender.
8. Followed by 3/4 of your lemon juice, 1/3 of a teaspoon of salt and your chopped garlic.
9. Also transfer your 50g of toasted sesame seeds into the mixture and you are ready to blend.

10. Start by pulsing your mixture at intervals to begin the blending process.
11. After a few pulses, begin to add in the olive oil in little amounts at a time.
12. Then blend at intervals and add in the rest of your olive oil.
13. At this point, also add in about 5 tablespoons of water, and continue to blend at intervals.
14. Add in another 5 tablespoons of water and blend until mixture becomes like a paste and fairly smooth.

15. At this point, the mild hummus is ready. If you want to try out the hot & spicy flavour, tranfer half of the hummus into a storage container.

16. Into the other half of the hummus, add a pinch to 1/3 of a teaspoon of your black pepper or peppercorns and also 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of the red pepper powder depending on how hot you want it.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Corrective Unclogging Care | Honest Review

Whiles on a hunt for a new paraben free skincare product to introduce to my regimen, La Roche-Posay as a brand is one that I came across from an advert online in 2014. Soon enough after seeing that advert, I begun to see this brand around a lot on youtube though I hadn't come across it before. Specifically, their Effaclar Duo range which is very popular. I did not really have intentions to try it out as I thought it might be just one of those adverts where a lot of hype is given to the product which does what most other popular products do with questionable ingredients, but I was in for a healthy surprise. Read on!

la roche-posay effacar duo corrective unclogging care honest review

I went ahead and found a couple of free samples of the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Corrective Unclogging Care lotion, and let me tell you why I love it! This is a completely honest and unsponsored review!

DOES IT WORKS?
Let us start with the most important question and possibly, a reason you are reading this post! I tried the unclogging care lotion for just over a month. In this time, I used it as part of my morning and evening skincare routine. I was expecting to see a visibly clearer skin, fading acne marks from of old and a softer and happier skin. Did I get that? Absolutely! I loved it! Read on for why!

WHY I LOVE IT!
Paraben Free
As a beauty and skincare product lover who is trying to make better and healthier choices of products that go on my skin and into body,  i.e. products first of all without parabens and mineral oils, this was an immediate attraction to me. It is indeed paraben free and mineral oil free. The first ingredients are water and glycerin, two very moisturising agents! For now, parabens and mineral oils are the two ingredients I keep an eye out for as I continue my search for great skincare and beauty products with great ingredients.

The Packaging
After learning about the ingredients, I was ready to try it out, however the packaging was also a good reason why I was so willing to give this product a go. It has a clean design, almost like those you get with clinical skincare products by pharmacies or skincare laboratories. Clear inscriptions and no fancy pansy claims. Just what the company believes the products can do. Well the French name is quite fancy and can I say, I love it!

It Started To Fade My Acne From Of Old
I was an acne sufferer as a young lady in my teens, and as result, though my skin cleared significantly as I grew, I still have some dark marks and pores on my cheeks mostly from the old acne. My face is generally soft as I have oily skin, but I do have pores and a bit of uneven textures. I found that in the time I used this product, my dark marks were beginning to fade and the trouble areas were feeling smoother and definitely clearer! The pores were beginning to looking less visible also!

The Feel
Each time I applied this lotion on my face, I couldn't help but be impressed by the relief I felt. Yes relief. You see, many moisturisers I have tried in the past left me with a greasy feeling. For my oily skin, this isn't nice. What I found with this lotion is that as soon as I applied it to my face, it just soaked into my skin leaving my face hydrated moisturised and normal, no residue, no grease. After a wash and a tone, adding the lotion came with a welcomed feeling of water and moisture.

WILL I BUY IT NOW?
Certainly! I am planning to buy and try the Three Step Effaclar Duo Anti-Blemish System! I recommend it.

If you have been looking for an honest review on the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo range, then I hope this helps!
