Organic Dinner Meal Prep for Slim 6 Challenge (Week 3, Ramp It Up)

Hello everyone,

I hope you are having a good week so far. I just thought i will show my organic dinner meal preps for the week during my Slim in 6 challenge week 3 on Ramp It Up

As a general rule, i normally have:
1 cup carbohydrate
3-4 oz protein
1-2 cups vegetables

For this dinner meal prep, i made a cabbage, celery, swede and mushroom sauce with a little olive oil. For proteins i have an option of grilled mustard chicken or salmon.
I also steamed some carrots and broccoli as my vegetables side for dinner.
For carbohydrates, i chose to have an option of pasta or spelt spaghetti. When this finishes, there is still an option of sweet potatoes or white potatoes.

For Lunch i will be making egg white and spinach sandwiches with a side of olives.

For snacks i will be having strawberry, raspberry and non fat Greek yoghurt or an apple.

So far i am enjoying this change. I enjoy more the fact that the ingredients which make this meal are organic. Do give this meal prep a try and see if it works for you. :-)

Organic Grocery Haul for Slim in 6 challenge (Week 3, Ramp It Up)

Hello everyone

I am here with my grocery haul from this afternoons fortnightly on-line grocery shopping. As mentioned in my previous post before this, i alternate between shopping on-line and going out to shop fortnightly.

Unfortunately, in this order, they happen to not have organic spinach, organic strawberries and organic raspberries. I mean the reason i order on-line every two weeks as mentioned before is because i know i cannot get these specific organic products in the actual shop, so i was a little disappointed when these three items were replaced with non organic produce. All the same, i thank God for provision.

So i will show you what i bought for the different categories of vegetables and
fruitproteins and carbohydrates and i will also talk about what i plan to do with these.

Thanks for stopping by.

Organic and non Organic:-(  Vegetables and fruits
3 bags of Spinach, 2 packs of Strawberries, 1 pack of Raspberries, 1 pack of Avocados, 2 Broccolis
Fruits- smoothie breakfasts and fruit snacks
Spinach- lunch filling and smoothie breakfasts
Avocados- breakfast
Broccoli- dinner vegetable sides

Proteins and carbohydrates
Unsweetened Almond Milk, Sage non-fat Greek Yoghurt, Organic Semi Skimmed Milk and Organic eggs
Almond Milk- for porridge oats, tea at home and smoothies
Organic Milk- tea at work
Greek Yoghurt- smoothies and fruit snacks
Eggs- breakfast and lunch

Beef Pho, Granary Bread, Organic Chicken and Wild Catch Salmon Fillets
Beef Pho- supplementary dinner on weekends
Granary Bread- lunch and breakfast
Salmon fillets- dinner
Organic Chicken- dinner

This plan is a nice change from last weeks plan and i am looking forward to see how this goes.

Hello all,

So i thought to post a Nail Of The Week for my style page. For this week i decided to go blue as blue as the weather, ironic as it is, it still brings a bit of electricity to this dull autumn week :o)

Organic Dinner Meal Prep for Slim 6 Challenge (Week 2, Start It Up)

Hello everyone,

I hope you are having a good week so far. I just thought i will show an example of my organic dinner meal preps for the week during my Slim in 6 challenge week 2 on Start It up

As a general rule, i normally have:
1 cup carbohydrate
3-4 oz protein
1-2 cups vegetables

For this dinner meal prep, i made
a cabbage, swede, tomato and mushroom lean turkey mince sauce without
cooking with oil at all. This way i could have a filling but healthy substitute to an oily sauce, whiles still getting in my protein and vegetables.
I also steamed some carrots and broccoli as my vegetables side for dinner.
For carbohydrates, i chose to have an option of pasta or brown rice for this week. When this finishes, there is still an option of sweet or potatoes white potatoes.

I steamed some celery as my side for lunch along side some olives.

So far i am enjoying this change. I enjoy more the fact that the ingredients which make this meal are organic. Do give this meal prep a try and see if it works for you. :-)

How i shop for groceries during slim in 6

Hello all,

So if you have read my blog post on "Slim in 6" you would know that i mentioned talking more about my decision to go organic. I will Post that after this post, because first of all i wanted to show you what i would buy when i go out shopping every two weeks at the moment for my weeks shopping during this diet. I also try to shop on-line every two weeks or so, this is all in trial.

Why did i opt for weekly shopping during this challenge?
It means i will only buy what i need for the week and wont be left with too much food in the house so that I do not have the freedom to choose to eat more often than needed.

Why do i switch up shopping on-line and going out to shop every two weeks?
I personally found that shopping on-line every two weeks or so provides the chance to buy some organic and free range products which cannot be found if i go out to my favourite shop to buy from. For instance organic free range turkey mince. There i buy these items on-line to last me two weeks as i freeze the meat for instance.

Also, shopping on-line greatly allows me to budget better because i tend to choose only what i need to buy instead of having the view of the whole supermarket in front of me as you do when you go out shopping. Walking down the supermarket isle sometimes make me buy unnecessarily.

I however choose to go out to the shop also every two weeks or so to top up with products such as milk and bread. This is so that i don't end up spending too much on delivery by shopping on-line every week.

Where do i shop?
Well since i started this challenge, i found sainsburys to be my choice of supermarket. This is because, i have noticed that they have a lot more variety and choice when it comes to organic and free range products at more affordable prices too, compared to other supermarkets. I am loving it so far.

Slim in 6 challenge by Debbie Siebers

Image from beachbody slim in 6 website

Hello everyone,

It has been a very long time since I have been on blogger or even YouTube. A lot has happened, both very very sad events and happy events, in the last year, leading to my absence. But in all, goodness is still around.

Now about Slim in 6, after seeing this so may times on tv and reading about it on-line  I decided to give it a try. It is a 6 week program with good reviews and if followed strictly can enable weight loss in 6 weeks. As I type this post, I have been on the slim in 6 challenge for a week now and I must say I am enjoying it so far. I had to make the decision to wake up an hour earlier in the morning in order to exercise so that I can relax after work. I also had to make a decision to sleep early so I could fit in at least 7 hours of sleep each night... and this has been fabulous. It was quiet difficult though, in the first two days, as my body was in so much ache due to the new exercise routines, but after two days, my body adjusted so well and I had no more pain at all.

So I have been exercising with the "start it up" dvd so far which is supposed to be for 2 weeks. Next week will be week two for me.

Together with the exercise, I have been eating very differently, lets say more healthy eating. First of all I have decided to go more towards the organic way of life, therefore I buy:

Organic vegetable instead of non organic
Organic meat instead of non organic
Organic and free range chicken and turkey and eggs instead of non organic or batch processed chicken and turkey
Organic milk
and Organic tea

I will talk more about this change and why I did it in another post, so please stay tuned.

My Hiar Journey PART 2- When Relaxed My Hair Again, November 2010 - January 2011

When I Had Relaxed Hair

This is a follow on from My Hair Journey Part 1 HERE. So I started my 'relaxed good haircare' journey in November 2010 after extensive research on You Tube, reading blogs... and my goal was to reach waist length somehow.

Here is a timeline of my hair roughly when I started, the pictures aren't clear because I was new to whole documentation process.

November 2010
Scraggly ends, nap/collarbone length, problem areas around nape and front of hair line (breakage)!!

Pre-pooed hair
Shampooed
Deep Conditioned
Detangled

Improvements already.

My Hair Journey PART 1 - Birth to March 2013

History Of My Hair journey

My hair was first relaxed at the age of about 4 or 5, I quiet remember having it relaxed every so often with 'JUST FOR ME CONDITIONING CREME RELAXER' for kids. I used to love seeing the pictures of the relaxed little girls on the front of the box and always enjoyed relaxing my hair. I usually got my hair braided without hair extensions for school thereafter and I quite remember my hair being the soft 3c/4a type then. I had always admired long African hair.

At the age of about 9, it was mandatory that my hair was cut. This was because in Ghana then (I was born in Ghana), depending on which school you went to, you had to cut your hair like boy! So from age 9 and for a few years after that, my hair was cut regulary like a boy's, for school as in the picture below. That was my first BIG CHOP! Click here for Part Two.

Image from Google
However this all changed during my teenage years, when I could finally grow my hair back :-). In the UK, I got used to my hair being relaxed, braiding and treating my hair for some years. It never occurred to me to learn how to do this myself. Though it occurred to me to learn to take care of my own hair, I never really bothered to. It always got taken care of at home and I never went to the salon in the UK, ever, and I still haven't. My hair grew during these years. Up until my second year in University.

In my first three years in University, my hair was mostly in braids or relaxed by friends who cared more about my hair than I did. Hmm, sounds bad, I know, but at the time, it really was'nt my priority.

Me in the Laboratory

I went through a stressfull time half way through university, which caused massive breakage to my hair as I was not relaxing it or moisturising it much. Eventually, my friend ended up accidentally cutting my hair back down to stage 1- boy hair cut and natural in May 2009.  My SECOND BIG CHOP!!. I guess I needed a change. But not that DRASTIC!!! I sported this, as shown in the picture above, for about 1 year. Then I started regrowing my hair again around May 2010, with braids.
